Custom Glass Shower Doors in Cambridge, MD

HGM Glass designs, fabricates, and installs custom glass shower doors in Cambridge, MD. Bathrooms in this town come in two generations. The Victorians and colonial revivals along High Street and the West End have been settling for a century or more, and no two openings measure alike. Newer construction near the Hyatt Chesapeake corridor and along Ocean Gateway starts square and stays that way. One shop, both conditions. Every panel we hang is cut to the opening it will live in, not to a catalog size.

Frameless Glass Shower Doors

A frameless enclosure hangs heavy tempered glass on hinges and clamps, no metal frame anywhere. It's the upgrade Cambridge homeowners ask about most, and it's easy to see why: the glass opens a bathroom up, which matters in the smaller second-floor baths you find all over the city's older housing stock.

Frameless hides nothing, so the opening calls the shots. In a settled High Street home we template the finished opening and cut to that template, absorbing out-of-plumb walls in the glass itself. Newer builds off US-50? Square openings, longer spans, wider door panels. Both end the same way: a door that fits because it was built to.

Shower Doors and Enclosures

We build framed, semi-frameless, and fully frameless shower doors and enclosures for Cambridge homes. Framed carries the glass in metal on all four sides and uses thinner panels. Semi-frameless drops the frame off the door leaf. Fully frameless puts the whole load on the hardware.

What moves the price? Glass thickness, panel span, hinge count, and how much out-of-square the fabrication has to absorb. An older Cambridge bathroom with a header that runs out of level is often better served by a semi-frameless unit with a header channel. A new square opening can carry fully frameless without compromise. We'll tell you which one your bathroom is.

Steam Shower Enclosures

A steam shower is a sealed room, not a taller door. Glass runs to the ceiling. The door closes against a continuous seal. Every joint holds vapor. We fabricate steam surrounds in low-iron glass so thick panels stay clear instead of reading green, and we fit the seals and sweeps to the finished opening.

Steam pairs naturally with the larger master baths in Cambridge's newer construction, where the surround, bench, and ceiling height can be planned around the glass before framing closes. A hinged transom up top vents the enclosure when the session ends.

Shower Hardware Options

Hardware carries the enclosure, so we spec it by load rating first and finish second. Hinges, clamps, channels, and pulls come in polished chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, and oil-rubbed bronze. All four finishes hold up in a room that cycles between steam and dry air several times a day.

Cambridge's older homes add one more variable. A hinge anchored into solid blocking behaves differently than one anchored to tile over aged framing. We check what's behind the wall before we quote the configuration.

Glass Splash Panels

A fixed splash panel is the simplest glass shower we build. One tempered panel, no moving parts, nothing to adjust. It suits walk-in showers, tub decks, and the curbless entries showing up in more Eastern Shore remodels.

Same standard as a full enclosure: tempered glass, polished edges, thickness chosen for the span and the mounting. We measure the wall and the surface the panel meets, then cut so the glass lands tight against surfaces that were never built straight.

Places of Interest

Cambridge, MD

Cambridge, MD is the seat of Dorchester County and one of Maryland's oldest colonial towns, settled in 1684 on the south bank of the Choptank River. The city grew as a port and shipbuilding center, and the historic district along High Street still holds one of the finest collections of 18th and 19th century homes on the Eastern Shore. Harriet Tubman was born into slavery in Dorchester County, and her story anchors the area's museums and the Underground Railroad byway. Today the city pairs its working waterfront and marinas with resort development along the Chesapeake, and older in-town neighborhoods sit minutes from new construction along the Ocean Gateway corridor.
