Custom Glass Shower Doors in Ridgely, MD

Get A Quote

Custom glass shower doors in Ridgely, MD have to answer a problem the catalog brands ignore. Much of Ridgely went up between the 1880s and the First World War, before indoor plumbing was standard, so bathrooms here were carved out of hallways, closets, and back bedrooms. Those openings are rarely square, rarely plumb, and almost never a stock size. HGM Glass measures the finished opening and builds the enclosure to it.

Frameless Glass Shower Doors

With no metal frame around the perimeter, the glass carries itself. Tempered panels hang on hinges and clamps alone. Frameless is the most requested upgrade among Ridgely homeowners, and it sits at the center of our shower doors and enclosures work.

Every job starts with a field measurement of the finished opening, not a catalog size. We template the actual walls, cut the glass to those numbers, and fabricate in our own shop, so panels sit flush even where a century-old wall runs out of square.

Hardware comes in polished chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, and oil-rubbed bronze. On a wall that leans a fraction off plumb, hinge type and per-panel load rating matter more than finish, so we specify both against the measured wall rather than a catalog assumption.

Shower Doors and Enclosures

Our work in Ridgely, Denton, and Federalsburg covers framed, semi-frameless, and fully frameless enclosures.

A framed unit carries metal around every edge of the glass, uses thinner panels, and is the most economical of the three to build and install. Semi-frameless trims the framing back to the perimeter and sits between the two. Fully frameless relies on heavier glass and load-bearing hardware, which carries the highest material and hardware cost.

None of the three is a bad product, but they behave differently in a retrofit bathroom. A framed unit's rigid track lands on the wall as it exists, and any error in that wall shows along the frame line. A custom-cut frameless or semi-frameless panel is fabricated to the measured opening, so the glass follows the room rather than fighting it.

Steam Shower Enclosures

Steam changes what the glass has to do. A steam enclosure holds vapor in the room, which means a fully sealed surround with a ceiling panel, a sealed door, and no gap along the top.

Low-iron glass goes into every steam surround we build, because it reads clear instead of green across large panels. The seals, transom, and header are fitted to tolerances a standard shower never has to meet. A sealed surround gives nothing to a fraction of an inch.

Ridgely homeowners ask for steam when reworking a bathroom they plan to keep. A sealed surround built to the measured opening is a permanent upgrade for a fraction of the price of a full remodel. It holds up because glass and hardware were specified for that room, not pulled off a shelf.

Shower Hardware Options

On a frameless door there is no frame doing the work. The hinges carry the entire weight of the panel every time it swings, far more load than most homeowners expect.

Polished chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, and oil-rubbed bronze wear differently in a bathroom. Chrome shows every fingerprint but wipes clean quickly. Brushed nickel hides marks best. Matte black holds its look with regular wiping, and oil-rubbed bronze darkens as it ages. Come see them at our Berlin showroom.

Panel weight and span dictate the load rating we specify, and one enclosure gets one grade of hardware throughout. In an opening that is out of plumb, that discipline is what keeps a door hanging true and closing cleanly for years.

Glass Splash Panels

A splash panel does one job: it holds water inside the wet zone from one fixed pane with no door. Homeowners keeping an existing tub or walk-in ask for them often, and they solve a problem in Ridgely's tight retrofit bathrooms, where a swing door has nowhere to go.

A panel is not a lesser product. It is cut from the same tempered safety glass we use for a full enclosure, held by the same mounting hardware, and finished with the same polished edges. We measure the tub deck or curb, account for any slope or bow in the adjoining wall, and cut the panel to those exact dimensions. Finish options are the same, so the panel matches the rest of the room.

Very Pleased and Highly Recommend

HGM Glass installed our shower door when we remodeled our bathroom. They were professional, thorough, and experienced. Our visit to their showroom was very informative and they explained the procedure and answered our questions. I was quickly contacted by the team that takes the measurements and does the template and they arrived at our home, on time, a couple of days later. They were meticulous and explained that this was a custom product and would be made to our specifications and preferences. The finished product was delivered and installed less than a week later by their experienced installation crew. It looks beautiful! Very pleased and highly recommend HGM Glass.
